A psychology assignment forces Mara to text Roman DeLuca, the mob boss who became her court-appointed guardian after a hit killed her parents. His 2 a.m. reply brands her devotion unhealthy dependence, triggering a total cutoff: revoked access, severed lines, and orders barring her from DeLuca Tower. For half a year, he flees every shared space. Then an aggressive glioma diagnosis steals her language and memory, leaving a narrowing window to reach the man who erased her.
