Cecilia Sterling helms a massive hospital group but keeps her clinical edge by working one anonymous gynecology day annually. That routine shatters when son Adrian drags one-month fiancée Sophia into her exam room. A secondary syphilis diagnosis triggers Sophia and her mother Vanessa into a frenzy; they insult, strike, and stomp on Cecilia's hand before locking her and intern Claire inside a supply closet. Adrian arrives mid-assault, unaware the bound doctor is his mother, and half-accepts Sophia's claim that Cecilia is unhinged. Claire smashes the door open after Cecilia collapses, pays for emergency surgery when no family can be reached, and recognizes her as the surgeon who once saved her own mother. Conscious again, Cecilia plots to unmask Sophia at the upcoming engagement banquet.
